Only 3 months left before the planned departure at the end of April... Time flies (too fast) and the list of things to do (and to buy...) grows longer.
Indeed, Libertaire has been ashore since mid-November and benefits from our little attentions... In no particular order, complete overhaul of the oil bath stuffing box with replacement of seals and bearings, replacement of the keel winch motor, dismantling of the old wind turbine that has turned its last... It has recently been replaced by a 3rd solar panel. Dismantling of all the bulkheads (starting from the bow) for insulation optimization. This follows the draining and desalting of the diesel, the dismantling of the 2 headsails which are at the sailmaker for leech tape repair and overhaul... This also includes the installation of an AIS receiver, a battery controller...
Our weeks are also well filled with work at the hospital and the many shifts to fill the onboard fund...
Faced with the obligation to have a weapon on board for defense against Polar Bears, we obtained a shooting license after a few Sunday mornings spent punching holes in paper at the Impact Tir club!
We are not yet unemployed, there is still plenty to do before departure: administrative tasks, painting, antifouling, provisioning...
