Libertaire Sailing

Finally, departure!

Sailing along the Norman coast, we finally found the time to update our blog! Between the "rush" of the last month and various preparations, moments of "calm" have been rare. The very rainy Breton weather notably delayed the different layers of paint, but we still managed to give Libertaire a new hull color between the raindrops. With temperatures rising, a new anti-fouling was also applied along with a layer of non-slip paint on the deck. Libertaire was therefore relaunched on Wednesday, April 17, after 2 last very warm evenings on board and at the Vannes boarding school! Thanks to everyone for the gifts and your various helping hands!

The departure for Dieppe via Guernsey is set for Thursday at 12:00 to take advantage of favorable currents, in the absence of a favorable wind... Anne-Laure and JC accompany us and take the opportunity to discover the joys of sailing, especially tacking, with a West wind turning to the North upon our arrival at the Sein ridge, then to the East at Ouessant! We moor at Saint Peter, Guernsey at dawn on April 22. Our zigzagging route along the Breton coast is therefore not a sign of excessive alcohol consumption ;-)

The stopover is short, just enough time to disembark our 2 stowaways and fill up with diesel, taking advantage of unbeatable prices (£0.77 per liter!). On a full tank of a thousand liters, the difference is significant!

We set off again in the afternoon, under the sun, and a SW wind of 3-4 Bft. The Blanchard race allows us to reach speeds of 10.9 knots. The following night is peaceful with a beautiful sea and a favorable wind of 3-4 Bft. The Norman coast is glimpsed through the fog, which gradually dissipates.
