Lundi 23, comme pMonday 23rd, as forecasted by the anticyclone, the sun is present and we set off in the morning for a long hike to Lake Vestdalsvatn. As we ascend along the river, snow appears and the view of the fjord expands. At the end of the day, exhausted, we enjoy the hot baths and sauna at the Seydisfjordur pool.
Mercredi matin, dWednesday morning, departure for the Faroe Islands. The wind is not ideal as it is SSE for a route to be taken at 134, but we prefer to leave before another storm is announced. Moreover, the weeks are passing and we need to get closer to Saint Malo... The first day of crossing is rather pleasant on a close reach in 15-20 knots of wind with moderate seas. The next day, as we pass the occluded front, we spend an uncomfortable dozen hours tacking twice in 25 knots of wind and seas that have built up. However, the passage of the front is accompanied by a slight shift in the wind to the SW, which allows us to quickly reach Eidi, on the island of Eysturoy, one of the 18 islands that make up the Faroe archipelago.
Samedi matin, aprSaturday morning, after a good night's rest, we set off to explore the small village of Eidi.
Hier nous avons pYesterday we covered the 30 miles to Torshavn, the first half under engine, the other under sail, under an unusual sun for these islands known for their dense fog. The passage of Djupini and Leirviksfjoerdur was truly magnificent! This morning after meeting customs and the "harbour-master", we stroll through the charming streets of Torshavn where we will stay for a few days waiting for favorable winds to reach the Hebrides.
