Escape to the Scilly Isles

After 6 months marked by daily trips between Saint Malo and the CHU of Pontchaillou, we return to the sea with Libertaire. We will be able to enjoy 15 days of fresh air before starting a new intensive semester ;-)

Departure on Sunday, April 1st under splendid sunshine!

Arrival at the Scillys at Saint Agnes after 36 hours of sailing, including 12 hours waiting for the wind just north of the cargo ship lane. What better than a walk around the island to stretch our legs...

The next day, a NW gale forces us to stay on board and enjoy the warmth of the stove with a good book...

With calm restored, we tack a few times to Tresco, another island in the archipelago, 10 miles away. Once again, we are alone at anchor.

It's Easter day, we discover Bryer and its charming, rather talkative inhabitants.

The vacation continues, heading to Helford River! We pass by Wolf Rock and its eddies, and sail along Lizard Point, the northern limit of the starting line for the round-the-world record...

After a rough crossing with SW winds F7-8 and a short, heavy sea, Dartmouth and its "so lovely" fish & chips welcome us with open arms! Damien takes the opportunity for a haircut by a charming hairdresser ;-) So, with a full stomach but a light head, we set off hiking...

We already have to think about returning, and we leave in the evening for Aurigny. An evanescent wind forces us to use 3 hours of Nanni breeze to reach Braye Harbour, protected by a 1 km long breakwater! During our walks, we come across strange wildlife...

Last stop at Guernsey, after a quick and rather calm passage through the Raz de Blanchard. We anchor at Havelet Bay, St Peter Port, and set off hiking along the island's edges. What a shame, Victor Hugo's house is closed today!

Special dedication to Minouchette!
