September in Galicia...

After 24 hours of tacking against a steady northwest wind, it's clear we'll have to wait to go to Ireland... The successive depressions suggest a warm September in Spain!

Deux jours de nav tranquille au portant et nous arrivons au large de Vigo.

What better than anchoring at the Cies Islands to enjoy the Spanish sun, even if the water temperature offers a striking contrast!

We take the opportunity to walk the shaded paths of these islands and enjoy the fine sandy beaches.

After a stop in Combarro to discuss the world with the Calamares fishermen at 2 a.m., we drop anchor in front of Pedras Negras where land walks, underwater hunting, and shopping await! Finally, a Spanish flag for Libertaire!

After 10 hours of tacking among fishermen in a steady northerly trade wind, we anchor in the small port of Muros in the middle of the night. After a good breakfast with "boat" bread, we're ready to hike along the ria de Muros.

It's in misty weather that we discover Cape Finisterre. What better than a good plate of calamares-patatas fritas and a good beer to recover from the run up to the lighthouse.

Departure under the sun while admiring the lighthouse of the cape, seen from below. A favorite spot is Cedeiras, a picturesque fishing village, its fort, and its blue waters.

After a slow ascent of the Bay of Biscay, due to a stationary anticyclone above us, we end the vacation with a tour of Sauzon and Houat, where we are no longer the only ones at anchor for this first weekend of October...

We finally moor Libertaire in Locmiquélic, a stopover port until mid-November, then back to work!
