Wintering

The first part of our journey comes to an end, it's time to return to France to see family, friends, and... work! We spend a week in Puerto Williams to winterize Libertaire. Cleaning the hull, touching up paint, stowing the headsails, draining the engines (diesel, outboard, Honda generator), the stove, the radiators, the toilets, reinforcing the boat's mooring, organizing, and... packing! On Saturday, May 20, we bid farewell to our boat-home as we leave it in Francisco's hands and board the Yaghan ferry, which connects Puerto Williams to Punta Arenas once a week. It takes 30 hours of sailing to reach our destination. The scenery is magnificent, and we gently leave these beautiful southern islands behind. Tomorrow we fly to Paris, with wonderful memories of these eight months... of vacation? See you soon in France or in September on our blog for new adventures, always further south!
