Geographic Harbor, Alaska Peninsula

After a few days in Kodiak, we return to the Alaska Peninsula, reaching the beautiful anchorage of Geographic Harbor, known for the number of bears that frequent the river mouths during this season. We are not disappointed; grizzlies are everywhere around us, and so are the salmon! We follow a group of wildlife photographers, more accustomed to walking among bears, which reassures the crew. We probably wouldn’t have gotten so close to the bears on our own. Calm and silence are essential, but the spectacle is worth it!

We then take advantage of a favorable wind for a 24-hour sail to the Kenai Peninsula and the charming village of Seldovia.
