Departure this noon from Cambridge Bay. We are heading towards Victoria Strait because Alexandra Strait is still completely blocked by ice. Therefore, we will not pass through Gjoa Haven, the site of Amundsen's first wintering during the first Northwest Passage on the Gjoa. However, there is a band of ice in Victoria Strait about 50 miles wide and quite compact. We hope to be able to enter the pack within 48 hours when the ice is less compact... To be continued!
