Hello hello!
Some news since our arrival in Canada three weeks ago!
After a short week in Prince Rupert dealing with formalities, provisioning, laundry, and discovering the city and its surroundings under the first rays of spring sunshine, we quickly wanted to head to more remote anchorages! The kids dream of wolves, otters, and brown and black bears, whose tracks we quickly discover... before spotting one (a black bear) in the distance on the shore at anchor! Then we set course for Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), an archipelago further west and the land of the Haida people (one of Canada's First Nations), part of which is a national park reserve. We must present ourselves at the museum for an information session on Gwai Haanas National Park before being allowed to cruise there for a month. We anchor for a few days in Skidegate and then Queen Charlotte City, the capital, and enjoy short hikes and village activities while waiting for favorable weather.
